The Western United States, the "American West"
The Western United States is commonly referred to as the American West. It is the region comprising the 13 westernmost states, including Alaska, Arizona, california, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. "The West" covers more than half the land area of the United States.
The West has played a significant part in american history, which is often referred to as the Old West.
The West is the most geographically diverse area of the United States, which has inspired the resulting preservation of some of the most scenic and natural wonders of the world. These areas include some of the most world famous National Parks, National Monuments, wilderness areas, National Forests, state parks, and many other preserved areas.
